Having just finished up at Gringotts bank, Cally slowly made her way down the alley. She had been given permission to go shopping for new robes to wear at school. There had been something mentioned about her wardrobe being slightly inappropriate for a witch of 17, whom had a good head on her shoulder. Cally had merely stood there bitting her tongue as she had been lectured by her professor, promising herself that she would make a point of not wearing her 'new robes' to his class anytime soon. It was childish mind you, but still Cally was grateful for the day away from the castle, even if it was a Saturday and she had no classes to speak of.
Having other plans than shopping for new school robes Cally slowly made her way to the book store and stepped inside. No one knew she was going to be in Diagon Alley today so the young Ravenclaw felt it was alright to let her nerdy side out for the time being, considering there really was no way she was going to run into anyone she knew.

Deran had been sitting on the floor of the bookstore, his legs comfortably stretched out in front of him, a large pile of books stacked up around him. He had begun to make frequent visits to the bookstore feeling at ease inside it's musty walls. He had been gone for a while, helping an old acquaintance with restocking the blood pills.
He wore all black like usual, his facial features hidden from the dimmer light, the long scars yet hauntingly beautiful face only seen if one were to come close. Deran heard the door open and he quickly reached into his pocket and took out a blood pill, sucking on it in his mouth.

Cally made her way slowly around the bookstore thumbing through piles of books looking for nothing specific, but hoping she would find something that would catch her attention at the same time. Crouching slightly to read the titles of the books on a lower shelf Cally pushed her dark hair away from her face out of old habit. Reading the title of the books the small Ravenclaw couldn't help but feel a small wave of emotion overwhelm her as she read the titles of love stories. hmph Cally huffed standing back up. All love stories end in tragedy, she thought a bit bitterly, thinking of the last man she had ever had feelings for. He after all had disappeared without a notice and had been gone for over three years now without so much as a note of explanation to where he ad gone.
Fixing her white low cut top, Cally wiped her ands on her medium washed jeans. She had grown up in the past few years, she looked more mature, and was no longer the little girl she had been then. Mind you she was still just as short, she defiantly had not gotten any taller, but Cally figured she could blame genetics on that one.
Thinking about Deran, Cally had to shake her head, he had left before the war had started and she had not heard form him after, who knew if he was even alive these days... So many had lost their lives during the years of the war that it was hard to believe she had been one of the ones to survive. Moving to the next row of books Cally continued to look through the titles. Noticing someone on the ground she gently stepped around them not wanting to disturb them from their reading spot. " Excuse me," She said softly her Scottish accent thick as the words rolled sweetly from her lips. Stepping to the other side of the person, Cally continued to look through the titles hoping something would jump out at her and grab her attention.

Deran had felt the person coming closer but he made no move to change positions and instead felt them step over him. Their smell was sweet and sadly familar. He lowered his book overwhelmed at the loss. He didn't believe the news that had reached him, it seemed only yesterday when the letter came telling him Cally had died in the war, Hogwarts being destroyed. It had pained him and he knew he probably lost her forever. So, he had decided to do what he knew best and helped his friend hunt wounded animals to make more blood pills for the vampire population. It was only after becoming bored with it that he came back, and he was still gathering the courage to go visit Hogwarts and find her resting place.
As Deran was submerged in his thoughts he heard the woman say excuse me. Not noticing who the voice belonged to, Deran merely replied in a pained, "Sorry."
Without glancing up he said, "If you're looking for a happy ending try the third book down." Deran motioned to his stack, noting that the girl had just come empty handed from the other row. After all he found that these days almost everyone was looking for a book with a happy ending.

Cally's eyes traveled from title to title, not really listening to the voice that answered her. These days Cally found herself day dreaming, or in her own world where others didn't exist. It was the world she had made for herself, away from anyone, away from the hurt of lose and rejection, but mostly away from the promises which had never been kept. Cally had been promised by Deran that she could spend her summers with him instead of with her abusive father and stepmother before he had disappeared - a promise which hadn't been kept. With no where else to go, Cally had spent her summers taking the abuse that her father and step-mother had laid out, and Cally still wore the bruises and marks from this past summer on her arms, although they had turned a light shade of green now as they were finally fading.
Flipping her hair over her left shoulder, Cally froze her world spinning as the voice behind her spoke again. Goose bumps rose on her skin and her breath caught. Seeming frozen in spot Cally took a deep breath to calm herself. Turning slowly she knelt down next to the man who had spoken to her. She knew the voice, she had dreamed about his voice every day since he had left. but it couldn't be him could it. As Cally took in more of what the man was wearing she knew it had to be him, Deran.
Instead of going for the book he had mentioned Cally tried to search for his face, but the dimmed light was hiding any facial features which could possibly identify the man in front of her. "Look at me," She said simply, her tone almost demanding as all other words escaping her. Cally didn't care if she sounded rude. She needed an answer and she needed one now. "Turn out of the shadows and look at me," Cally repeated her dark eyes searching for something she had thought had died years ago. Biting her bottom lip nervously, Cally balled her hands together in a fist her knuckles turning white as she fought the desire to physically turn the person before her.

Deran didn't pay any attention to the person as they knelt down, but he could feel their blood pressure rising and he wondered what he had done to upset them so much. When they demanded they look at him, he glared at his book, the pages turning colder. In the back of his mind he felt like something was familiar but it had been long before he had let his memories overtake him. The emotions he felt were amplified beyond any human conception because of what he was, and the pain was and had been too much to bear.
Deran slowly turned to face the person, his beautiful features showing in the dim light, adorned by the scars along his pale skin. His facial expression held one of anger, and then it slowly turned into disblief, joy and then dispair. Her eyes, it was Cally's eyes. Deran reached towards her as if he couldn't believe that kneeling in front of him was the girl he had mourned for. It couldn't be. She was dead!
Deran stood up with lightining speed and grace, knocking over the pile of books. He reared back into the bookshelf sending more books flying to the floor. He couldn't take it, his emotions were being released. Kneeling down, his hands over his head, he shaked as the anguish consumed him. All he could say was her name over and over again, like a little lost boy who had relaized he was all alone. "Cally, Cally, Cally, Cally!"
Deran sobbed once more, his breath catching in his throat as he slammed his fist into the floor, making an indent. "Why did you have to die!" Deran unclenched his fist as he realized he probably was disturbing the person next to him, obviously not aware that it was Cally, his mind blocking out even the slightest glimmer of hope that she was still alive.

Cally breathed deeply her impatience growing as the man did not look at her. She felt like shaking him. How dare he not answer her or at least respond to what she had said. Breathing in for three couts, Cally let her breath out slowly as to regain her calm. After all it couldn't be who she thought it was. Who she thought it was would never have abandoned her. glaring at the man before her Cally waited and was about to force him to look her way when he finally did as she had asked.
As he finally turned to look at her Cally, words failing her. It was him. Deran. There was no mistaking it, his perfect features, the way his eyes met hers. Cally was about to say something when she was shocked back with his emotionally out burst. Jumping back as he did, Cally stood there frozen, shaking slightly as everything became real around her again. She stood frozen as he knelt back down his hands over his head as he said her name over and over again rocking as he did so.
Cally jumped again as e slammed his fist down, but her senses and her ability to talk and move came back to her as he asked why she had to die. "What?!" Cally breathed her eyebrown arched in quesiton. "Why did I have to die?" She demanded his question her accent thick as her emotions took over her. "I am not dead that I can assure you," Cally said as she knealt beside him again, taking his hand and putting it over her heart. "See, I'm real.." Cally trailed off the shock still dying down.
Cally hesitated, tears in her eyes, this couldn't be real, she had dreamed about him coming back for years, but that had all been lost after he hadn't returned after the war... "You never came back! you told me to wait for you Deran and you never came back..." Cally trailed off. "Why didn't you come back... I thought you loved me.." The last part of what Cally said was whispered as her fears came crashing forward, she let his had go, and shifted back slightly away from him. He was alive, and apparently in good healthy for the most part, so why hadn't he come back for her like he promised?

Deran looked at her the reality that it was really Cally before him sinking in. "Cally?" Deran whispered, her name flowing smoothly from his lips.
"I did wait for you. I waited for what seemed forever and then I got a letter. I know I should have looked into it, but it said that you were killed in the war. I went to Hogwarts and saw that it was destroyed. I've been mourning you for the past three years." Deran looked at Cally as tears streamed down her face. He had messed up.
"I...when my family died I left for over three hundered years. It took all my strength to even come back here. I thought I had lost you, and the pain was so unbearable that I turned my emotions....and the memories of you off. I'm sorry." Deran sat up and held back his need to hold her.
"I've been a complete fool....an utter jerk...no less then that....I don't even deserve to be here from what I did to you. The pain I must of caused. I was being selfish, attending to my own pain instead of trying to seek you out to see if you were still alive. I understand if you can't forgive me, if you don't ever want to see me again." Deran held Cally's gaze the entire time he spoke, sincerity in his voice.
"I'm so sorry, Cally." Deran whispered, pain in his voice that he could actually really be losing Cally.

Cally frowned as his words reached her. He had honestly thought her dead.. well perhaps that could be forgiven. But she had needed him these past three years and the fact that he hadn't been there had hurt. And well the castle had been destroyed, so the fact that he had thought her dead wasn't really that far off of what could have happened. She listened silently to him allowing him to speak as she stood there her emotions all over the place and her heart racing in her chest.
Cally sighed as he called himself a jerk and a fool. Granted, she was upset, but he was neither of those things and she never wanted him to feel like that. "Oh hush" Cally cooed moving closer to him and kneeling beside him again. "You're neither a jerk or a fool, so never call yourself one..." She trailed off. "Deran, you do deserve to be here, and more than that, I want you here.. Just don't leave again." Cally moved closer taking his hands in hers again. He hadn't changed since she has last seen him, she however had, she wasn't the little girl anymore, but rather a grown women, and nearly done school.
"I forgive you Deran," Call said softly, her gaze holding his as she moved closer again. Sitting next to him, Cally wrapped her arms around his waste and rested her head on his shoulder the tears she had been holding back threatening to spill out of her eyes as the tears sparkled in her dark eyelashes. "Please don't leave again," She said softly her voice barely above a whisper as she sat with him just wanting to take all the pain they had both suffered away.

Deran watched Cally and as she sat next to him he held her close to him, being careful to avoid her bruises. He looked into her eyes, wipping away the tears. "I won't ever leave you again, I promise."
Deran kissed Cally's forehead and smiled softly. He only hopped that she wouldn't ever leave him....that death wouldn't take her away from him again. He rested his head against hers, smelling her hair, or rather the sweet scent of her blood that he had only been able to dream about for the past three years.

Caleigh tried to blink back the tears which had her dark chocolate brown eyes glimmering, but it wasn't with much success. She felt one tear start to fall down her cheek, and looked away quickly trying to hide the fact she was crying. Feeling Deran move slightly so he was facing her, Cally looked up into his eyes as he wiped her tears away. Nodding her head slightly, Cally turned her face into his chest and just held onto him shaking slightly, the shock still too great, and finding out he was still alive too amazing to wrap her head around.
Cally didn't move for a long time, but could feel Deran resting his head on top of hers as they sat there together. Finally drawing some strength from the fact he hadn't left and was still solid in her arms Cally pulled away but didn't let go. "Ye have not changed," she said softly resting one of her hands on his cheek, "But who would have told you I was dead...." Cally trailed off. It wasn't her family, they didn't know of Deran for that reason. So who else could have played such a mean trick so as to keep him away from her?

Deran smiled, at her first words. For him to change at this point in his life would be almost impossible, he was so set in his ways. To her next words he frowned. "I don't know who sent the letter, it just came. Other people recieved similar letters so I thought nothing on it. And from the ones I heard about the letters spoke the truth, so I took the letter about you to be the same." Deran squeezed Cally closer to him as if reassuring himself that she was still there.
"Though, I'm sorry I left, and that you had to go back to your father and step-mother. I see they haven't been treating you well." Deran said, lightly touching Cally's arm.

Cally frowned, her her forehead creased with worry. Placing one of her fingers on her forehead as if to smooth the invisible wrinkle she felt she had going from all the frowning and worrying she had done in the past years Cally sighed. "It's possible they thought I was in the castle when it was destroyed.." Cally hesitated.
"If I had been anything of a model student i probably would have been, but George and the wench whom likes calling herself my new mother called me home," Cally trailed off thinking about that trip. Give the choice at the time, she probably would have chosen death given the choice as she had thought Deran dead or never coming back, it would have been welcome instead of the pain she had felt both physically and emotionally.
Cally winced slightly as Deran lightly touched one of the bruises, making her breath catch in her throat. They were old bruises but they still hurt like new. "It's alright," Cally said shrugging her shoulders in dismissal. "It's nothing I haven't ever dealt with before.." She trailed off giving him a light smile.
Looking for a way to change the subject, Cally looked around them at the scattered books. "We made a wee bit of a mess didn't we?"

Deran looked at Caleigh, "Well its something you shouldn't have to deal with."
Deran looked at the scattered books, noticing her change in the subject. But he chuckled at her, after all he was the one who had made the mess. "Yes, I made a wee bit of a mess, but it's the floor I'm worried about more. Would you mind fixing that up, I'm not that good at casting spells, and I can put the books back." Deran smiled as waited for Cally's response.

Cally smiled, running her hand over the dent in the floor. "I think I can do something about that..." Cally sighed looking at her purse which was just out of reach from where she was sitting. "Bloody Hell" she muttered softly having to let go of Deran to reach for her purse. Shivering, Cally felt the sudden pains of loneliness just being out of his arms again. She felt kind of weak sitting by herself now as she looked through her purse for her wand. Finding it at the very bottom Cally gave it a whirl while pointing it at the dent on the floor.
Watching as the floor went back to it's normal state Cally smiled, pleased with her work. Putting her wand back into her over sized purse, Caleigh pulled a light black sweater out and put it on over her white blouse suddenly self conscious of the bruises on her arms.
"So shall we sit here all day or go somewhere else?" Cally asked looking up into Deran's eyes. She was supposed to go back to school as soon as possible, But Cally figured this was more important that school any day of the week. "Your choice," She added wit a playful wink.
