Layla's deep blue cloak hung over her chair dripping melted snow onto the ground. She was wearing old boots with dark jeans, her once black sweater adorned with patchwork. Layla's long blonde hair hung down her back still slightly wet from walking outside. Despite her out garments and the state her hair was in Layla could tell from the glances of the other customers that she was glowing to them.
Layla quickly sat in a corner booth, almost hiding herself from view of the other customers in Madam Puddifoot's. She had taken a window seat, finding it amusing to watch passer-bys walk in the freshly fallen snow. The snow was calming to her, or maybe it was the fragrance of the tea wafting up around her. She didn't like tea, she didn't know why she had come here in the first place. It was rather ridiculous to be sitting here when she could be doing something else...when she could be in dungeon at Hogwarts studying away...likely not.
Layla sighed, looking momentairly down into the handpainted tea cup. Hogwarts was nice, but it wasn't that much different. She wanted adventure, she wanted somehting to happen, she wanted...she wanted...

Adara wasn’t quite sure why she was here. Maybe it was the miserable condition outside (She just couldn’t stand snow), or maybe it was the delicious aroma of freshly baked goods. It didn’t really matter what drove her to take momentary refuge in this brightly colored shop, what mattered was that it was lonely here. Adara brushed her short, ginger hair out of her eyes and looked outside. She almost wanted to go back, chat with the middle aged man who was wearing an outfit similar to her own. Short sleeves and ripped jeans. No coat, no boots (Just some worn out sneakers). People probably assumed that he was homeless, but not Adara. Maybe he just liked the cold. That’s what they would talk about, she imagined. They both would look at the ladies in there winter-wear and the men in large, almost frightening overcoats. And they would laugh about it. Such silly people; wouldn’t last a moment in the woods at night.
She stood up, moving to go outside. Maybe she would talk to the man, or maybe she would walk back to school, but this place was just too lonely for her tastes. Walking to o pay for the tea that she has bought, Adara froze. Sitting there, right behind where she had just sat, was a girl. Adara didn’t even notice how this girl looked. She could have been hideous, but the red-head didn’t really notice. There was just something… stunning about this girl. Something that kept Adara staring, even though she probably should have turned away.

Layla looked up and noticed the girl with short red hair staring at her. She didn't have time to calculate her feelings about the girl, all she knew was that she was being stared at. Layla turned slightly in her chair so that she was facing towards the other girl, who appeared to be around her age.
"You know if you're going to do something go ahead and do it. Your wasting time staring off into space." Layla stated, her voice was kind yet held an icy-undertone to it.
She turned away from the girl, trying to sense if she was going to leave or if she was just going to stand there until Layla did something.

Adara looked down for a moment, her face momentarily matching her hair. She almost walked away; to save herself further embarasment. However, instead she looked up and smiled warmly at the girl.
"I'm terribly sorry about that" She began, hoping that she sounded personable "I didnt mean to stare, but you look very... firmiliar"
It was a blatent lie, but any other explanation would seem odd. The truth would probably just sound creepy, so she just smiled, waiting for a reply.

Layla looked down at her tea cup and sighed. She motioned for the girl to sit down across from her. "That's what they all say." Layla muttered.
She turned to face the girl. "Though for trying...." Layla stuck out her hand for a handshake. "I'm Layla Alderov. And you are?" Layla smiled slightly, she could already see this going downhill whatever it was.

Adara scowled, entirely unused to being caught lying. She wanted to insist that she was being honest, but saw no merit in it. Instead she just sat down.
"I'm Adara," She said, taking Layla's hand and pulling away quickly "Adara Whelan"

Layla noticed the scowl. Apparently Adara didn't like the fact that she spoke her mind. "Even though you were staring at me, it apparently seems like you don't want to get near me. Which is fine, I've dealt with it all before."
Layla turned back to looking out the window. "Do you know why snow is white?" Layla spoke softly, she had been thinking about it for a long time and she wondered what Adara would think on it. She wondered why Adara was even here.

Adara took a breath and drew her shoulders together, as if trying to withdraw from the conversation. "I- I just..." Her voice was practically non-existant and she trailed off, noticing that Layla had changed the subject.
"I don't know" She shrugged "It's sure pretty though, isnt it? Shame it's so cold... and wet" She made a face and smiled just a bit.

Layla continued to look out the window as if turning away from the snow would make it disappear. "I don't know either. But it sure is pretty, you only get to glimpse the individual snowflake for just a second and then it blends in perfectly to the rest." Layla bit her lip, not adding that she wished she was like that...that she could just blend in.
Layla turned to face Adara a small smile on her lips. "But it is really cold and wet. I almost slipped in front of this store...and then I kind of ended up here," Layla laughed as she continued, "I don't even like tea." Layla still held the tea cup gingerly as if it was something constant she could hold onto. Something she could focus on. This was the first time in a long time that she had ever really sat down and talked with someone.

Adara smiled. It was as if the other girl was speaking in metaphors. And Adara wasnt even sure if she noticed. "Yea, I don't know how I got here either. I mean, I'm okay with tea, but I'd rather be back at school" She looked at Lyla curiously, trying to decide how old she was, and if she went to Hogwarts or not.

Layla smiled, "Looks like we're both victims of Madam Puddifoot's."
Layla looked up at Adara and studied her briefly, "You go to school? Do you go to Hogwarts? What year are you?"

Adara laughed, "Yes, we're victims of bright colors and hand painted pottery" She gestered towards Layla's cup
"And yes, I'm a sixth year, how about you?"

Layla smiled, at Adara's comment about the bright colors and tea cups.
A flash of excitement passed through Layla's eyes as Adara confirmed that she went to Hogwarts. "Really?! I'm a sixth year there too, though I just transfered, so it's like I'm a first year all over again. You seem to like spending time there, where is your favorite place in Hogwarts?"

So she was new. That was the only thing that crossed Adara's mind as she looked Layla over again. She still couldnt believe how stunning she was. Getting her wits together, Adara snapped herfelf back into the conversation.
"I just love the Great Hall" She said, smiling to herself. "It's the only place where everyone can talk. That and the common rooms."

Layla nodded, "so you're a people person. I haven't been one in a really long time. I like people, I actually love them, they just tend to love me for different reasons. Though if I had to pick somewhere inside of Hogwarts it would probably be the Room of Requirement."
Layla leaned back in her chair. "My favorite place is probably the forest. I know it's outdoors but I found this wonderful hiding place and it's great to go to at night, especially when I can see all the stars up in the sky. I love lying there on the ground just looking up at the tree branches, or I go float on the lake. That's wonderful to. My parents, my sister and I used to go camping in our backyard, the thin sheets from our beds floating above us like waves...do you like the outdoors?"
"So, do you have a lot of friends then too, or do you just talk to a bunch of people?" Layla asked as if remembering her original train of thought.
