(OC: if this doesn't make sense let me know)
Deran squeezed Cally softly as if reminding himself that she was still there. He was hurt slightly by her words but was careful not to show it. After all being born a vampire would in her terms, he would be considered dead. But, this life, as long as it had been was being alive to him. And when his family was killed, when their laughter, smiles, and embraces never floated through his life, when they ceased to be, that was what death was. Yet, he kept their memories very much alive. Their bodies however no longer could hold those memories.
"What does being alive or dead mean, but rather how one choses to live ones life. Think of the phoenix, dying in body but rising again in new spirit, a new life, and in a new body which houses that spirit and eternal song. You are merely a phoenix Cally, an immortal bird which houses your eternal soul. Why then cannot another phoenix, another song come from you?" Deran waited for her response, he felt as if he held her very heart in his hands, in this matter, and he was lost as how to make her understand. That to him, she, they both were very much alive.

Caleigh felt Deran squeeze her a bit tighter, and smiled. She had knowingly given up all chances of children to be a vampire, but that sacrifice had been worth it to be with Deran. Putting her hands over Deran's arms and leaned back into him.
"How is it you can say things that shouldn't make any sense, but are exactly what I need to hear?" Cally couldn't help the small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Turning in Deran's arms, Cally looked up at him. "I don't understand what you're saying.. well I do, I'm not a total ditz.. but Deran I never knew it was possible.. Why did you never say anything before?"

Deran smiled and looked at Cally. "I guess it never really crossed my mind. I mean, I was still so nervous that you wouldn't even want to be with me. I couldn't really concentrate on anything else other than wanting to spend the rest of my life with you."
Deran didn't really know why...well maybe a part of him wouldn't be able to deal with losing his family again. Somehow having it just be Cally made it easier for him to protect her, but he also wanted kids. He would just have to trust that everything would end up working out. After all, the people that wanted his family line to end were all dead or didn't know he was still alive.

"I've kinda been busy focusing on our lives together too..." Cally trailed off sensing that Deran had some worries about the possibility of extending their family. "Don't worry, it's not something I've really thought about, we've still got a lot to do before then. You promised we could travel, and as selfish as it is, I'm not ready to share you yet." Cally rested her head on his chest.
Pulling away Cally smiled. "C'mon lets do something," she said heading for the door and grabbing her cloak on the way. "I haven't done anything fun in forever..." Cally paused by the door and looked back and Deran. "Pleaseee," she whined teasingly batting her eyelashes at him.

Deran smiled. Cally knew him so well. "Well, we can be selfish together then." He honestly didn't want to share her either.
Deran laughed softly as Cally headed for the door, and he quickly slipped off his father's robe. He grabbed his own cloak. "Lead the way!" He loved going wherever she wanted to go, and they had a very long time to go on adventures together.

Cally squealed with delight as Deran followed her, letting her lead the way for another adventure. "You know I might get us lost," Cally said practically bouncing as she headed out the door. Waiting for Deran outside, Cally smiled up at the sky looking at the stars, remembering some of the first nights she and Deran spent together while she was at Hogwarts. "What to do... what to do.." Cally muttered her breath misting in the cool night air.

Deran laughed, "getting lost would be half the fun." He watched her bounce along and he wondered where they would go. Even though he had been pratically everywhere, every place seemed new and exciting with Cally. As if he were seeing it for the first time.
"Well...what's the first thing that pops into your head?" Deran asked. It was a question his parents had always asked. They usually were able to do everything seeing how they had lived for a very long time. It was hard though, sometimes it felt like there never was enough time.

Cally bit her bottom lip and headed toward the tree line. "I want to run," she said softly, but she knew Deran could hear her. "I want to be able to be what I am, with the one person who understands me." Cally pulled the hood of her cloak up over her dark hair. "It was so hard hiding who I was for a month," Cally said walking backward into the tree's her body disappearing, the only thing visible was her face and hands where the cloak didn't cover.
"I've gotten better with my new found powers," Cally said with a smile. "I bet I could hide, or sneak up on you now and you wouldn't even know..." Cally paused in her tracks. "Let's play a game!" she said with a squeal of glee. "Hide and Seek," Cally declared. "But I'm not it!" With that the small vampire turned on her heel and made a dash for it into the woods. "You have to count to 20!" She called back over her shoulder.

Deran smiled, "well, lets run then."
Deran understood her desire to run, there was a sort of freedom in being able to move gracefuly and swiftly. He was sure especially since she was new that she wanted to partake in that thrill.
Even as it grew darker out, he could still see Cally. He was sure that if an onlooker were here, especially a human or animal, they wouldn't be able to see the two vampires. He especially had grown used to using the dark and shadows as a friend.

Cally giggled with glee when Deran said they could run. It was so exhilarating to feel the wind in her hair, and know that she was invisible to anyone other than Deran.
"You have to count," Cally laughed, "Don't you know how to play hide and seek? I hide, you seek. Or are you too old?" Cally joked sticking out her tongue. moving with speed she'd never had before and silently, Cally moved next to Deran and kissed him on the cheek before slipping into the darkness again.
"Count," she said playfully, but actually wanted to know if she was getting any better at concealing herself, "oh and close your eyes too! You can't know where I'm hiding."

Deran smiled at Cally as she kissed him quickly on the cheek. She certainly would keep him on his toes. "Allright, I'm suppossed to close my eyes too." Deran covered his eyes and began to count. He opened up his senses to try and keep track of Cally, instead finding himself wandering back through old memories. He used to play hide and seek with his sister, and she had gotten pretty good at it too, but then again he always let her win. He wondered why Cally wanted to play, it was sort of an odd choice for a new vampire. Maybe, maybe she wanted to see how good she was at hiding. After all it would come in handy, thus he decided he should take the game more seriously, but be playful too.

Cally could hear Deran counting, as she made her way further into the forest. He had been teaching her so she wasn't new to this at least. Expanding her senses, Cally ran a good distance silently before she hid among the trees. Slowing her breathing, Cally tried to still her heart, she had picked a spot down wind, so hopefully she'd at least have a little while before Deran could find her.

Deran could sense that she had stopped, they were after all connected in a way that he doubted even Cally knew about. It was best at the moment for her not to know. He smiled and looked up through the tress at the sky. He found it ironic that she had chossen these same woods, true they were on the property, but still, the sound of ghostly laughter haunted his memories.
Deran moved silently, deciding first to run about a 15 mile circumfrence around the area he thought Cally to be in. He had taught her how to hide, and he knew that she most likely was using those techniques. Thankfuly the air was still, so he it was easier for her to hide.
He felt in a way bad, but he had found her rather quickly. He snuck up behind her, grinning. "You know, even when hiding you look beautiful."

Cally could hear Deran before she saw him. He was running a circle around her location. She could of course run, but he'd probably be on her faster then she could say hocus pocus. Like in the manor, Cally felt a shiver go up her spine before Deran spoke.
"Damn," she said with a smile turning to smile back at him. "You keep saying that, but you're opinon is still biased." Cally paused, "Alright your turn oh great one. Show me how to hide properly then."

Deran laughed, "and it will always be very biased." He stepped away from her, "all right, but no peeking." Deran looked to see if Cally was ready.
He decided to run around the property, which spanned over many miles. Running over streams allowed for his scent to be broken, and then he calmly slowed down his pulse and cleared all his emotions. Bringing his body down to a state that was like death itself. Sneaking back to only a few yards away from Cally he easily went up the tall trees. Moving quietly he settled on one that was too old to move but young enough not to creak. Staying frozen he watched and waited for Cally to come find him. The darkness of he night concealing him easily among the thick leave covered branches.
