Cally closed her eyes smiling as she started to count " One... Two... Three..." Clearing her mind, Cally let her senses flare. She couldn't hear him running anymore, and his heart beat was gone. Letting go of more of herself, Cally let the part of the beast, the hunter rise up in her.
Opening her eyes Cally looked around. She knew which way Deran had gone, but he wouldn't be that easy to find. She felt it inside her, deep inside, in a place she didn't know existed that he was close. Moving slowly, Cally reached outside of herself searching the ground for another presence. She could feel the small rodents running around in the bush and she could feel the deers grazing not far from her, but there was no sign of Deran.
Stalking quietly to the shadows Cally continued to expand her search, but she couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't far. Clearing her mind again it was a few moments before the light flicked on in her mind. He wasn't on the ground. Looking up into the tree's Cally didn't feel or see anything at first, but she knew she was close.
Circling back to where she had started Cally looked up again and felt that draw, she knew he was up there. But where. Scaling the trees herself, Cally effortlessly jumped from tree top to tree top until she figured it out. "Got you!" She said pouncing on Deran.

Deran watched Cally, he could tell she was going deeper and finding the connection between them. Truth be told, he was pretty impressed. When she pounced on him, he laughed, making sure to steady both of them so they wouldn't fall out of the tree, even though they probably wouldn't get hurt. "You're getting to be really good at this. Pretty soon you'll be able to find me even if I am halfway around the world." Deran smiled.
"Though, we should probably have you practice with other people too. You know me too well." Deran winked at Cally as he sat straddling the tree branch he was sitting on.

Cally giggled and swung around on the branch so she was facing him. "I'm getting better, but I still couldn't find you as quick as you found me." Cally sat up on the branch then hung herself upside down from her knees swinging back and forth. "I could probably track someone/ something else.. just provided they're not older and more experienced then you." Cally stopped swinging but stayed upside down, her long hair hanging underneath her.
"Deran, how is it I could tell you weren't far. I knew it instinctively, not that I could hear your heart or smell you. It was like part of me was reaching out for you and you were answering..." Cally trailed off trying to look at him from where she hung.

Deran watched her swing from the tree and he smiled at her. He leaned over so the he could look her in the eyes while he talked, but he didn't swing upside down. "Yes, I've had years of practice or really just experience. If I think of anyone who would want to help out, I'll let you know, of course." Deran couldn't think of anyone that was younger and on good terms with him.
"Well, you remember when I proposed? Truth be told, proposing for the Kieler's has always been a very soul-binding experience. You're putting your soul on the line and asking the other person to spend the rest of your lives together. When two souls meet and truthfuly agree to that binding love, they're able to communicate freely. You couldn't feel it when you were still human but it was always there. Kind of like telepathy but it's more of being able to feel the others emotions and knowing where they are. You have to open yourself up to it though, and it can be closed off as well, kind of like a door to the other persons heart." Deran looked at Cally to see if she understood what he was talking about.
Of course with the joy and location techniques, there came the pain Deran had seen etched on his father's face when his mom finally drew her last breath. It was like they were in the same body, going through the exact same thing, yet they weren't even near each other. They had died in a way together, each feeling the others loss but overwhelming love.

Cally held up her left hand so she could look at the ring on her finger. Smiling she listened to what Deran was saying. It made sense in a weird sort of way, if she hadn't felt it she wouldn't have believed him though.
"Do you ever shut that connection off?" Cally asked wondering if she ever could now that she had experienced it. Honestly, she didn't want to shut it off, if it gave her the reassurance that Deran was alive and well when he wasn't with her, maybe it meant that she could finally have some piece of mind.
"We never did get married Deran," Cally thought out loud. "I mean we've been engaged forever, but we've never actually followed through." Cally pulled herself up like a monkey and sat looking at Deran. "Let's do it.. we could run away and go to America to vegas or something - you always hear about that in the news." Cally smiled waiting to see what his answer was going to be.

Deran was glad she still had the ring. He had shut off the connection before, but it was only when he was going through immense pain. He couldn't bear the idea of her being able to feel what he felt. But looking towards the future he didn't see a reason for him to shut the door. After all, most of his enemies were dead. "No, I think that door will always be open."
He listened to her words, and he thought carefuly before he responded. "I do want to get married to you, Cally. It's been on my mind since the moment I met you. And we can have whatever kind of wedding you want. I guess...it's just that...I'm old. And traditional I guess...more like....I think my families friends would want to be involved in at least some part. The reception maybe if you want to have a private wedding." Deran paused, he really didn't know what Cally wanted on the matter.
He turned to look at her, a smile on his face. "What kind of wedding do you want, love? If you can dream it, we can do it."

Cally smiled, reassured with the knowledge that connection would always be open. "You're not .. THAT old," Cally teased, but nodded her head slowly as he spoke. She had never considered what type of wedding she would have. Well that wasn't true, when she had been very little and her mother had been alive, she wanted the big church wedding with the big white dress and a veil. She'd wanted her father to walk her down the aisle, and her mother to be crying in the front row of the church. But that wasn't her life anymore.
Biting her bottom lip, Cally thought seriously. "That's a hard question," she said slowly. It wasn't so much that she wanted a private ceremony, Cally just didn't have anyone to invite. Deciding she needed to think about it more Cally threw the question back at Deran. "What is your dream wedding?" She asked with a smile. "What will the reception look like?"

Deran nodded at Cally's words. It would seem like they both were at a loss. "Well, I guess I never really thought about what the actual wedding and stuff would be like. Just always knew as a matter of honor to invite the friends my family line has left to some part."
Deran smiled at Cally, "guess we can plan this one together." He hadn't given the planning much thought precisely because he knew who wouldn't be there, and that was his family. He was sure Cally was feeling the same thing, thinking about the absence of her mother, and the father who wouldn't talk to her.

Cally leaned into Deran where he sat on the tree branch. "We can have a wedding with everyone there. I just gave up on that idea a long time ago." Cally shrugged. "It was my dream as a little girl, I wanted to look like Cinderella." Cally smiled remember the tiara she used to wear as a little girl pretending that she was a princess.
"You'd look really handsome standing at the alter waiting for me though," Cally said with a giggle.

Deran smiled, "you would look amazing too. I think all eyes would be on you and I would be amazed that I am so lucky to have you for the rest of my life."
Cally was perfect for him, just the way she was. He moved and leaned forward and kissed her on the forehead and then moved to kiss her on the lips.

Cally smiled into the kiss, this is why she loved Deran, he said the perfect things, was the perfect man, and her other half. "You get brownie points for being so sweet," Cally said into the kiss before nipping Deran playfully on the lip and jumping down from the tree before he had a chance to get her back.
Smiling like a goof she looked up at Deran in the tree wondering what they should do next.
