In the Office (Open)

[Professor Severus Snape]

Snape was in his office, grading students papers, you could hear that quill on the parchment as it moved to mark it, of course once he was done with them he moved on to looking over his lesson plans, to insure not only that everything was in order, but that he had all that he needed & no students had taken anything that would be needed, like some in the past.

[Balder Rask]

Balder ran through the halls as fast as she could; she thought she was an hour late for meeting Professor Snape. She hadn't realized that she had set her watch incorrectly; Balder didn't think she had the time to change out of her flight suit, she didn't really care that she looked completely out of place either. She skidded to a halt outside his door as she took a few seconds to catch her breath before she knocked on his door. Balder wondered if he would remember her; it had been 14 years since they last saw each other.

Snape had heard that Balder was coming, more so because she was coming to Hogwarts & with everything going on well, it was watched to who came & went event those that left to see that someone was not trying to act like them to get into the school. How ever had he not known that Balder was suppose to come see him, the odds he would not remember her, not that he did not know who his students had been more just after 14 years people could change. At hearing the knock he glanced at his clock, noting the time as he spoke simple "Enter" Well if it was Balder she was late, if someone else well he would deal with them if it was. He did not bother stopping what he was doing, not yet any way for now he would wait to see who it was & go form there.

Balder straightened her flight suit before entering Snape's office. The only thing Balder noticed had changed was that there were even more jars of unknown concoctions in them. Snape himself hadn't changed much either; but he had something Balder was all too familiar with, the eyes of someone who had seen war. Balder had them as well.
"I'm sorry I'm late, Professor Snape. I know there is no excuse for me being late; it was my own fault that I set my watch wrong from being in Afganistan." Balder said, still a bit breathless, "The holding pattern I was in didn't help matters either."

The first thing Snape noticed was Balder dress, that would be fixed he was not about to have people come here looking like that reason or not, Hogwarts was a school of magic not a muggle school nothing against them, it was just he though it best that if she was here to learn to be a professor or that she should learn the part as well. He said down what he had before he spoke "You are right you are late & there is no excuse, perhaps if Hogwarts was under attack I would over look it, but it is not & on top of it you would of done well to dress the part, after all you should look the part & it will keep you form getting more looks then needed, because of your dress"

[Balder Rask]

"I know, I rushed over from base and didn't get the time to change, I have to wear it on base around the planes in case of a fuel leak or a fire. I'll change out as soon as I can; I brought my stuff with me." She replied, patting her pockets. Balder had enchanted them to have unlimited space. She then gave him a small smile "You haven't changed one bit, Professor." Balder commented.

[Professor Severus Snape]

Snape heard her words "Good, I am glade to hear you can change, in the a joining room if you like, so that we can get down to business" At her last words he watched her "Not sure if that is good or bad for you, but at least we understand each other" He of course was still his jerk of a self & more so with those like Balder that came back for seconds to learn form him, he was hard for a reason, but not unfair it was just after the fall of the dark lord he had eased off a bit, but not greatly the students learning still would come first even if they did not like him for it.

Balder nodded and went into the other room, quickly changing into her witch robes. They were still a bit different, but a lot less noticeable than a flight suit. She entered into Snape's office again, giving him another smile. "There, all better." Balder moved closer to his desk before asking "So, what's first on the to-do list?"

Snape watched her before she left to change, once she came back he looked at her as he heard her words he nodded lightly that it was better or more so suited for her. At her question he spoke "First thing would be for you to tell me what you hope to gain form your time learning under me & then we will see where you stand, so we are not waiting each others time" Of course he cared less if he waisted her time, but his he did for he always had things to do in one place or another, so he wanted to insure form the start that this was worth doing other wise it would not work out & Snape would say things he should not, more so then normal.

"Well, I hope to be able to one day teach potions, it's what I'm best at besides flying jets and brooms. I'd really like to teach a new generation of kids once I retire from the Air Force. I'd rather do something with my skills than sit on my butt and letting them go to waste." Balder then blushed a little, scratching the back of her neck; her trademark habit when she got nervous,
"And I'd rather learn from the best I know than from a stranger; even if it is sometimes better to try something new. I'd just rather have someone I know that would actually tell the truth about something they don't know and would try and find the answer instead of making something up like I've seen some professors do back in America."

Snape listened to her words, he was not sure if he should take her words to heart or that she just was trying to get on his good side something he did not have it was bad & worst for him, but for now he would not place her in one of them. "I see well, then we will see what happens. To start we should see what all you remember, so can you tell me what the rare ingredients are that are found in the wizarding world & why they are classed as rare? And then what potions are the most complicated & then why?" After if she wanted to work with potions one had to know all the ends & outs.

(Does not have to be exacted, just trying to start some where)

"I know acromantula venom is rare because of how hard it is to get, especially from a live specimen. Antimony is rare because of how many spells it requires to keep it safe and in it's molten form, otherwise you'd have a highly toxic solid. I guess Boomslang skin could be considered rare because of rising shipping costs to get it here from Africa. Pretty much anything from a dragon is rare because of how hard it is to even get close to a dragon, same goes for a Graphorn. Re'em blood is extremely rare because of how hard they are to find." Balder started to list.
"As for the potions, I know polyjuice potion is incredibly complicated because one slip-up can cause permanent damage to a person. Felix Felicis is also complicated as well due to the same reason; even brewing it incorrectly can cause permanent brain damage. Draught of Living Death is complicated again for the same reason of one incorrect move can cause irreversible damage, and again, the same with Veritaserum."

Snape listened to her words "Well it is good to see you remember alote of what I tought & added to it, though in the end many things can be classed as rare or hard to find, just depends on what you are making when, but you did answer as you should have"

He watched her before he spoke "Alright so I see you have remembered much, so let use start with two potions the polyjuice potion & of course a healing potion" After all healing potion was somthing his class always oculd use as well, as hogwarts as for the other with events going as they where, he wanted it ready should steeps need to be taken to deal with the treat, after all there was ways to keep the potion if one knew what they where doing.

[Balder Rask]

Balder chuckled "I remember my class was particularly accident prone...and I caused a few broken noses and jaws...and fingers." she nervously scratched her neck again; she figured she was one of the more violent and aggressive students to have walked the halls of Hogwarts, but also one that had also done some of the most selfless acts; saving a drowning first year in her 5th, saving an opposing team member from injury from falling 200 feet off their broom during quiddich, and taking care of sick and injured pets of other students to name a few.

He heard her words "I cannot say it is any better though, it has its good & bad days, the reason that working with students you must not only keep the class under control, but see to it that no one blows them self's up or greatly hurts them self's, something I have been lucky to say has not happen why I have been the potions Professor here, though it could be that students still jump thinking I will do something to them if they make a mistake"

Snape finished what he was going before seating it down he rose as he spoke "I will allow you to make the polyjuice potion, the ingredients that you need are in the storage room & why you do that I will do that, I will work on the healing potion" Of course Balders potion would take time, where his did not, but if she wanted to do what he did, then she had to make the time for making it & seeing things did not go wrong.
